On June 22, 2007, presidential hopeful Barack Obama, his voice soaring as the crowd swooned, made this pledge: "I'll make our government open and transparent so that anyone can ensure that our business is the people's business." If elected, how would the junior senator accomplish this?
Obama promised: "When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as the president, you the public will have five days to look online and find out what's in it before I sign it, so that you know what your government's doing." Five whole days. Who could possibly read the hefty 1,071-page so-called "stimulus" bill in five days?
It took longer than that to read the new Dean Koontz novel and its only 352 pages of really good writing.
Turns out President Obama is waffling on the five-day disclosure promise. He's giving Americans less than four days to tally up all of the pork packed into its portly pages. Not without irony, Congress passed the porkulus bill late on Friday the 13th—further slashing our children's future with $790 billion in spending bills. Obama plans to sign it into law on February 17th in Denver.
As you watch Obama promise "no more secrecy," according to one report, not one member of Congress read the entire bill before passing it. Which begs the question: Why were our representatives kept in the dark about the bill's specifics before having to vote on it? Are we the people supposed to just trust this president when he claims the porkulus bill is necessary to prevent another Great Depression? In the words of President Ronald Reagan, "Trust, but Verify."
Unfortunately for America, that'll take more than this president is permitting.

Solar is going to see a real boom in the next few months. The stimulus plan that was just passed has a lot of funding dedicated to solar energy. Hopefully this saves us all money in the long run. Here is more information I found on the subject.
