For two years Barack Obama questioned—even mocked at times—Hillary Clinton's lack of foreign-policy experience. On March 5, 2008, Barack Obama blasted Hillary, saying, "What exactly is this foreign policy experience? Was she negotiating treaties? Was she handling crises? The answer is no."
Yesterday, Obama waffled on his mockery of Hillary Clinton's inexperience. Instead, Obama praised her for her knowledge of world affairs as well as her ability to persuade world leaders. While announcing his pick of Mrs. Clinton for Secretary of State to head his new foreign policy team, Obama said, "She is an American of tremendous stature who will have my complete confidence, who knows many of the world's leaders, who will command respect in every capital, and who will clearly have the ability to advance our interests around the world."
Obama now believes Hillary can "advance our interests." Compare that position to Obama's January 2008 radio ad: "It's what's wrong with politics today. Hillary Clinton will say anything to get elected . . . She'll say anything and change nothing."
Which is it? Better crack out a fresh box of Obama Waffles while you try to figure it out.
